
International Health Care Team Challenge

“Interprofessional Health Education in Australia: The Way Forward.”
The proposal is a major outcome of a National Scoping and Development project, Learning and Teaching for Interprofessional Practice, Australia (L-TIPP, Aus). The project is led by the University of Technology, Sydney and The University of Sydney and funded by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC).
The L-TIPP, Aus project aims to significantly increase the capacity of the Australian higher education sector to graduate health professionals who have acquired well developed interprofessional learning and practice capabilities.. The proposal responds to a unique moment and opportunity in the development of Australian health and higher education reform, where a focus on building a health workforce capable of responding effectively to changing population needs and changing models of care intersects with strong Federal, State and Territory health and higher education reform agendas.
The results of the proposal will have direct bearing on a number of COAG National Health Workforce Taskforce initiatives, in particular that of ‘Education and Training: Clinical Education and Training, Stream III’, which will investigate strategies for innovation in the education and training of the health professional workforce. The Higher Education sector is critical to the achievement of capabilities that are essential for delivering health services that are safer, more effective, more patient-centred and more sustainable. National Centre for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice
The centre launched in February 2009 at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) North Shore campus will ensure that New Zealand health services of the future are based on interdisciplinary co-operation and collaboration and inter-sectoral and cross-sectoral working. Read more…
